Dehydration in infants and young children

Dehydration is a serious problem in infants under the age of 6 months. All mothers should be supplied with sufficient information about the signs of dehydration in children and infants. Dehydration is commonly caused by the loss of water from the body in diarrhea and vomiting during gastroenteritis attacks.

It is important for mothers to know the signs and smptoms of the condition and to ask for medical help as soon as possible. Most gastroenteritis attacks are mild and can be treated easily but mothers must pay attention to notice if the child developing dehydration.
